Interview with a student – Part 2

Last week, we interviewed Nirvana
, a student on our Health and Social Care Level 3 Diploma. Today we speak with Nabila, another student employed by GHC in Gibraltar about her studies. In her own words…

My name is Nabila Gomez, I am 25 years old and I’m currently head of the supported living department at Grand Home Care. I left school at 16 and have found it difficult furthering my education since then. After long term unemployment I heard GHC were recruiting support workers so I decided to give it a go and ended up falling in love with the job.

Going back into education is not what I expected. I expected to be stressed and struggling to find time between studying and work but I find myself in the opposite situation.

With distance learning I can work around my own schedule and deadlines and study in my own time. It keeps it all more relaxed and allows me to actually enjoy the learning process.

Thankfully with the help of GHC and ETCL I have found my way to distance learning. My goal is to graduate to degree level and hopefully pave the way for others like myself in Gibraltar, who have found it so difficult to continue their education after
