July Charity Project – Orbis UK

Charity Project – Orbis UK

Charity Project

Our Charity Project for this month is Orbis. ORBIS is a nonprofit, global development organization and their mission is to eliminate blindness in developing countries. Many cases of blindness in poorer countries are avoidable, but lack of basic supplies still causes many cases of blindness every year.

Orbis helps to prevent blindness by helping local eye health organisations in developing countries. They travel to different countries in a converted plane, which functions as a hospital. All of the pilots and doctors are volunteers. Not only do they treat eye problems but they teach local doctors the skills to perform simple operations on local people once Orbis leave. Since they were founded in 1982 Orbis estimates that they have provided treatment to over 23 million people.

If you would like to help Orbis, all you have to do is to click on the link to our Facebook page below and ‘Like’ our page. For every new like we get this month we will donate 50p to Orbis. If you have already liked our page, you can still help. Share the page with your friends and family to spread awareness of the great work that Orbis does.
