Charity Project – December – Kims Animal Shelter

Kims’s animal shelter is located in the Costa del Sol, in southern Spain. Originally from Manchester,  Kim moved over in 1985 and has spent 20 years building the shelter so that she can continue to look after abandoned cats and dogs. In 1997 the shelter moved to its current site and currently occupies 10,000 metres with over 20 purpose built kennels. Presently, 95 dogs and 65 cats call it home and between them it costs over 300 euros just to feed them for a week! Vets bills cost around 3-4000 euros a month, just to vaccinate, neuter and get them ready for a new home.

In addition, the shelter takes as many dogs from the local pound as possible. The pound puts down any unclaimed dogs after just 14 days. The dogs that the shelter has managed to take from the pound have found loving homes as far afield as the UK and Switzerland.

The shelter plans to use the money raised by your likes to purchase a generator to provide power to the facility, to build a new play area for the puppies and start work on improving the well to make it easier to get water during the dry summer months.
