Introduction

This diploma is designed to explore Strategic Planning. Within this course you will explore Business Strategic Planning. We all plan, unknowingly, to some extent or another in informal settings; whether this is to do with the household, leisure activities, personal finance or within our work environments.

Learning Objectives

  • Students will have an opportunity to learn the different areas of Strategic Planning.
  • To review the business planning, strategy making and theories of planning
  • Look at different concepts of strategic planning
  • A review of how to use analysis and management
  • The course encourages the development of strategic planning

This course consists of Ten Units and is a qualification awarded by Oxford Learning College, in its own right; with the quality assurance of a leading awarding body (CIE Global) that hallmarks this professional qualification.

Assessment Objectives (AO)

AO: 1

Students must select and demonstrate clearly relevant knowledge and understanding through the use of evidence, examples and correct language and terminology appropriate to the course of study. This assessment, involves two written assignments: one halfway through the course and following the final unit. Both are assessed and graded by the assigned tutor, according to college procedures.

AO: 2

Students must critically evaluate and justify a point of view through the use of evidence and reasoned argument. Students can include evidence in different formats to support their written work such as documentation or images to support their course.

Quality of Written Communication (QWC)

In addition, OLC require students’ to produce written material in English, candidates must: ensure that text is legible and that spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPG) are accurate so that meaning is clear; select and use a form and style of writing appropriate to studying a complex subject matter; organise information clearly and coherently, using specialist vocabulary when appropriate and Harvard referencing of citation and sources. In this Specification, SPG will be assessed in all tutor marked assignments (TMAs)

Accredited Level 3 Strategic Planning Diploma Entry Requirement

Entry to this Accredited Level 3 Strategic Planning Diploma requires that potential students have gained GCSE/IGCSE or equivalent qualifications and have, good English oral, reading and writing skills.

Advice on enrolment and guidance of prior learning (APL) can be obtained through out contact centre. The course is a rolling programme and can be started at any point in the year. Successful students can go on to Higher Education, including remaining as students at OLC to complete courses in our portfolio of higher awards.

All students must be aged 16 or over.

Assessment

The coursework is assessed through continuous assessment with no formal exit examinations.

Study Hours

Approximately: 200 hours of personal study time for the entire course is recommended. All of which is supported by the OLC Course Tutor, who we greatly encourage students to access support from throughout their course.

Accredited Level 3 Strategic Planning Diploma Unit 1: Introduction to Business Strategic Planning

In this unit you will learn at a high level, the theories and concepts of strategic planning and the methods, techniques and toolsets employed.

Accredited Level 3 Strategic Planning Diploma Unit 2: The Journey of Strategy Making

Within this unit you will explore the various decision making process in relation to business. You will review political feasibility, role of participation, shareholder management and more.

Accredited Level 3 Strategic Planning Diploma Unit 3: Accepted Theories and Concepts of Strategic Planning

Through this unit you will explore theories and concepts of planning such as, the accepted definitions and theories of strategic planning, the concepts in constructing a strategic plan and the important aspects of business integration to name a few from this unit.

Accredited Level 3 Strategic Planning Diploma Unit 4: Stakeholder Analysis and Management

Here you will discover the determination of stakeholders in planning such as, managing and completing demands in different sets of stakeholders, modelling basis of power and interest and influence to name a few.

Accredited Level 3 Strategic Planning Diploma Unit 5: Developing Models of Strategic Planning

In this unit you will review the complexity of planning in a variety of ways such as structured approaches, consultants dilemma and latest trends and techniques in relation to planning.Unit 6: The method approach to strategic planning

You will explore the presentation of formal methods of planning. You will explore the areas of structured planning techniques, concepts of interlock and computer software in supporting planning.

Accredited Level 3 Strategic Planning Diploma Unit 7: Working with Teams – Group Approach to Strategic Development

Here you learn about, computer supported workshops, brainstorming and oval mapping workshops to name a few from this unit.

Accredited Level 3 Strategic Planning Diploma Unit 8: Maps and Models for Workshops

As you work through this unit you will explore interview and basic maps, locating goals and strategic issues, creating categories, developing draft and core options and analysing maps and computer models.

Accredited Level 3 Strategic Planning Diploma Unit 9: Methods of Delivery – Implementing Strategic Concepts

This unit is exploring strategic planning and how they are converted into action plans and how these are implemented. You will learn and explore a variety of areas such as programme and management change, interface, benefits measurement criteria and managing risks to name a few from this unit. You will gain knowledge in planning and implementation on completing this unit.

Accredited Level 3 Strategic Planning Diploma Unit 10: Concepts of Interlock – Integrating Strategic Planning into the Business Framework

In this final unit you will review your knowledge understanding and skills from the previous units on this course. You will examine holistic strategic model, importance of interlock, the facilitator and communication of planning. A great unit to end the course which will explore your knowledge acquired on the course.
