Introduction
This diploma is designed to show you behind the role of advertising. This is linked with a variety of roles such as Advertising Managers, Advertising and promotion staff, in-house accounts, account executive and creative service departments. You will demonstrate your knowledge and understanding through a variety of assessments which your tutor will mark. You can include other evidence to support your answers such as charts, images, diagrams, spreadsheets etc. Do remember confidentiality and Data Protection especially if you are already working within this field.
Learning Objectives

- The course encourages the development of advertising and skills within this role and how they support an advertising organisation.
This course consists of Ten Units and is a qualification awarded by Oxford Learning College, in its own right; with the quality assurance of a leading awarding body (CIE Global) that hallmarks this professional qualification.
Assessment Objectives (AO)
AO: 1
Students must select and demonstrate clearly relevant knowledge and understanding through the use of evidence, examples and correct language and terminology appropriate to the course of study. This assessment, involves two written assignments: one halfway through the course and following the final unit. Both are assessed and graded by the assigned tutor, according to college procedures.
AO: 2
Students must critically evaluate and justify a point of view through the use of evidence and reasoned argument. Students can include evidence in different formats to support their written work such as documentation or images to support their course remembering Confidentiality and Data Protection.
Quality of Written Communication (QWC)
In addition, OLC require students’ to produce written material in English, candidates must: ensure that text is legible and that spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPG) are accurate so that meaning is clear; select and use a form and style of writing appropriate to studying a complex subject matter; organise information clearly and coherently, using specialist vocabulary when appropriate and Harvard referencing of citation and sources. In this Specification, SPG will be assessed in all tutor marked assignments (TMAs)

Accredited Level 3 Advertising Diploma Entry Requirement
Entry to this Accredited Level 3 Advertising Diploma requires that potential students have gained GCSE/IGCSE or equivalent qualifications and have, good English oral, reading and writing skills.
Advice on enrolment and guidance of prior learning (APL) can be obtained through out contact centre. The course is a rolling programme and can be started at any point in the year. Successful students can go on to Higher Education, including remaining as students at OLC to complete courses in our portfolio of higher awards.
All students must be aged 16 or over.
Assesment
The coursework is assessed through continuous assessment with no formal exit examinations.
Study Hours
Approximately: 200 hours of personal study time for the entire course is recommended. All of which is supported by the OLC Course Tutor, who we greatly encourage students to access support from throughout their course.

The whole level three diploma has TEN (10) specific units of study, which are sub-divided into topic areas these are:
Accredited Level 3 Advertising Diploma Unit 1: Advertising Business Practice
In this unit, you will review the business role of advertising in many features such as results of advertising, relationships between advertising and social media, how advertising agencies are organised and conducted as well as agency finances and costing.
Accredited Level 3 Advertising Diploma Unit 2: Copy Writing
You will gain a knowledge behind the term copy writing and learn how this is an important role within advertising. You will explore the role of a copy writer and review what makes a good poster for advertising.
Accredited Level 3 Advertising Diploma Unit 3: Graphic Design and Production
Here you will review the methods and techniques behind graphic design. You will explore visual communication, type and rendering in black and white , space copying, print production and finished art.
Accredited Level 3 Advertising Diploma Unit 4: Art Direction
This unit is reviewing the overall role of art direction in relation to print media and television. You will cover areas such as Visual techniques, Packaging, Television commercials, Sale design, Posters and presentations and New business presentations.
Accredited Level 3 Advertising Diploma Unit 5: Television Commercials
This will oversee how commercials are created. You will gain knowledge and understanding of printing, concept and designing commercials. You will explore agency briefs, casting, budgets, financial costing, production and direction of television. You will explore areas of audience the advertisements are aimed and why.
Accredited Level 3 Advertising Diploma Unit 6: Radio Commercials
Here you will investigate the concept, design and production of a radio commercial. You will learn how radio commercials are different than television commercials as well as understand the similarities too. You will cover the equipment used for commercials as well as planning, recording and MCA code.
Accredited Level 3 Advertising Diploma Unit 7: Public Relations
Unit seven is designed to review how advertising provides students with skills in public relation sectors. You will review areas of PR Advertising, PR agents, publicity, promotions, campaigns and also brochures and newsletters. Its refining how publicity helps the promotion of advertising.
Accredited Level 3 Advertising Diploma Unit 8: Media Planning and Evaluation
Students will learn how to use media in relation to using space and buying time. You will review different types of agencies, media brief, target audience, magazine buying, radio buying, planning, media plan and presentation of media plans.
Accredited Level 3 Advertising Diploma Unit 9: Media Presentations
On this unit you will learn how to plan, prepare and deliver speeches and presentations. You will develop a range of skills such as communication, speaking, handling interviews and pitching ideas and suggestions.
Accredited Level 3 Advertising Diploma Unit 10: Media Law
This unit is referring to you studying essential law in relation to professorial working within advertising and printing and electronic media. You will cover areas such as Consumer protection, broadcasting laws, deceptive practices, brand names, trademarks and accreditation, agency ethnics. You will review online advertising, interactive copy and web site development.
Progression
This Accredited Level 3 Advertising Diploma can be used to gain entry to a Level 4 Diploma or higher.
